Benedictine High School Reviews

What a stupendous place! The principal and vice principal are wonderful caring people who bend over backwards to accomodate families. Where else can I reach the top administrator within seconds? The new teachers, especially, are great. They are dynamic, caring, and geneous with their time. THe older teachers are good for sure, but don't quite have the spirit of the other guys. Watch out for art class, the only really big weakness in the system. In fact, it's wretched.

This school has exceeded our expectations. I have never experienced teachers and staff that care so much about what their students will become. The classes are small and challenging. Extra help was available when needed. My son has been able to participate in many different activities. The boys are encouraged to volunteer for activities and join organizations.

Benedictine is a great place. There has been bad press and stereotyping of the school. But that was a tragedy and out of the school. Benedictine will take kids from the suburbs or the city and try and mold them into better people, smarter people, spiritual people, and people ready to be men. A great and fun school to be at and very diverse in my opinion which will prepare you for the next steps in life.

Benedcitine is awesome! The staff is close knit and from our first meeting with Admission Director Kieran Patton, we knew Bennie would be the ideal environment for our child! The English department is perhaps the best in the area! My son had no intrest in reading until he took Mr. Ricketts' American Writers course! My husband and I have been very pleased with the education our child has received, and we believe the school prepares young men not only for college, but also for the real world!

Benedictine gives young men a rock solid foundation in preparation for college and life. I sent two sons there, one who is a sophomore at a Catholic university with 3.8 GPA and the other is a senior at Benny who has flourished and has a great college experience ahead of him. My son currently in college was very well prepared and schooled at Benny. The diversity is one of the reasons we sent our boys there. Fr. Gerard and his staff have done a magnificent job of focusing on the fundamentals of a good education. The faculty is very dedicated. Yes, boys can and do fail here, but you (as in parents and students) only get out of Benny what you put into it.

Are there better private schools in Cleveland? Yes, but get ready to spend over $15,000 and go to a place with NO diversity. I'm a graduate of this school and went to a nationally ranked Liberal Arts College loaded with Prep School grads and the only difference I encounterd with them is I am used to diversity and they are not. Like any school you only get out what you put in and I came out fine. The teachers can be uneven but the good ones are accessible and in charge of some great clubs. If you want your son to be ready for the real world this is the place to go. If you want your son to live in a sheltered envirnoment then there are plenty other places out in the 'burbs.

In giving our son no choice in attending a private school his first year of high school he picked Benedictine over N.D Cathedrall Latin, now as a junior at Bennie there is no way of him leaving, in our eyes yes it would be 'better' for the school to be run by a non Father, but we have to say if our son would of attended the Public School here he would never of been what he is today. If we had another son he would attend Bennie, you bet he would, we gave up on the Public Schools after they totally ruined our first 2 children. Do we recomand Private, yes we do.

i had a horrible time in this school. i was in the honors courses, which were far behind that of any in the area. The honors math class was algebra I and honors english was still working on basic grammar. parents beware: many use this as a place to send their child after public high school. i urge you to keep them in the public school system. i watched my grades go from a 3.9 in 8th grade to a 2.16 there. the teachers are not there for special help. i faced criticism when I withdrew and was insulted by the administration for leaving. Beware!
